Giving a child the security and happiness they need when their parents live separate lives can be a tough road. The North Coast Regional Department of Child Support Services recognizes and respects that road, and they are here to help. If you are interested in learning more about local child support services, you can visit our website or watch a short video that describes the services we offer.

Last week the county's local child support services team was recognized by the California Child Support Director’s Association (CSDA) for the video it created (linked above), giving the agency the Program Awareness Award. The award was given for the agency’s innovative approach to educate the community about core services and their more family-centered approach. The department partnered with Inno-Versity to produce a short white board animation video that describes basic services and the new approach. The video is now in use statewide, with interest at the federal and tribal levels.

Additionally, the department partnered with local county departments and businesses to reach out to parents in the cannabis industry to educate them regarding child support and the state licensing process, and also created a poster with information in this regard.

Kelly Cook, long time Fiscal Tech with the North Coast Regional Department of Child Support Services, won the Outstanding Individual Achievement Award from CSDA for her collaborative efforts to help other small counties with their financial case management over the years. Two years ago the department began delivering specialized child support services for several rural counties, in addition to its work in Humboldt County, a process known as regionalization. Kelly has been doing the case management financial work for Trinity County families for many years prior to regionalization. She recently did the same for Del Norte County for a six-month period
