Construction for the County of Humboldt’s Clark Complex Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Modification Project is anticipated to begin on Monday, April 17.

This project is part of the county’s continued efforts to bring all county-programs, services, and activities into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

About the Clark Complex ADA Modification Project

The Clark Complex, located at 3015 H Street in Eureka, primarily houses offices for the county’s Department of Planning and Building and the Department of Public Works’ Land Use Division. Upon completion of this project, community members will have improved access to programs, services, and activities provided at this facility.

The Humboldt County Administrative Office’s ADA Compliance Team and the Humboldt County Departments of Planning and Building and Public Works have been working in partnership on the development of this project.

This project’s primary focus is accessibility improvements to the Clark Complex and will include the installation of a wheelchair lift to provide better access to the main lobby. Public restrooms will also undergo accessibility renovations, and a portion of the Planning and Building parking lot will be reconfigured to accommodate a new ADA van accessible parking stall.

Due to the work required for this project, public restrooms at the Clark Complex will be closed while work is taking place. Parking will also be limited in the Planning and Building parking lot located between H and I Streets for the duration of this project. Community members are encouraged to plan accordingly when visiting this facility. The County of Humboldt appreciates your patience while the county works to make these critical improvements.

Construction for this project will take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some afterhours work is also anticipated to minimize impacts on county programs, services, and activities offered at this location. The Clark Complex ADA Modification Project is currently anticipated to be completed this summer.

The Clark Complex ADA Modification Project is aligned with the goals of the county’s Facilities Master Plan (FMP) by investing in county facilities and improving ADA accessibility. The FMP is a document prepared to guide investment in county facilities over a period of 10 to 20 years. Prior to the adoption of this plan, county facilities were inspected, and community members were able to share their feedback through surveys and outreach. This plan was approved by the Board of Supervisors in 2020 and supports community resiliency by establishing efficient facility operations that accommodate growth and improve accessibility. Additionally, this project is aligned with the county’s ADA Compliance Plan, adopted by the Board of Supervisors in 2021.

This County of Humboldt is committed to providing equitable access to all county programs, services, and activities regardless of an individual’s ability. Please visit humboldtgov.org/ADA to learn more.
