Housing and Grants

Housing works to increase the supply of affordable and workforce housing for residents in the unincorporated areas of the county. To accomplish this goal, the division pursues funding for a variety of housing initiatives that include home buyer assistance programs, owner occupied housing repair programs, and development of multifamily, senior housing projects and disabled housing projects. To further this, the division serves to inform policy decisions that will lead to new housing options for very-low, low and moderate-income people in Humboldt County
Housing is also responsible for monitoring compliance with the mobile home rent stabilization ordinance. It also works with community partners to implement Federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) projects and programs that improve the neighborhoods for lower-income residents.

More information on rental, home ownership programs, and home fix-up programs is available. The homebuyer loan program waiting list is currently closed.
