[ARCHIVED] County Offices to Close Monday, Oct. 10 for Mandatory Training

Humboldt County Logo

The County of Humboldt will use Monday, Oct. 10 as an opportunity to efficiently provide important training to employees on subjects like the Americans with Disabilities Act, ethics, diversity, equity and inclusion, discrimination, sexual harassment, and more. County offices will be closed to the public as staff participates in this training.

This will mark the seventh straight year of the mandatory training as county offices will resume normal business hours the following day on Tuesday, Oct. 11. Law enforcement, emergency operations, and other critical services will not be affected by this closure, and the Humboldt County Superior Court will remain open.

There are several types of trainings that all county employees are required to undergo. However, it can be expensive and overly time-consuming to schedule enough training dates throughout the year to accommodate more than 2,000 county employees. The All Hands Training Day is an opportunity to get the majority of staff trained on one day, saving both time and public funds.

Below are the mandatory training sessions planned for the All-Hands Training Day:

  • Americans with Disabilities Act
  • Ethics
  • Discrimination/Sexual Harassment
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Common Terms
  • Workplace Safety
  • Defensive Driving
  • Cyber Awareness

Elective staff professional development learning opportunities include:

  • Community Resilience Model with Leah Valdivia and Crystal Perez
  • Towards Our Shared Humanity with Dr. Isaac Carter
  • Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Expression with Lark Doolan of Queer Humboldt
  • Understanding Team Building
  • UC Davis Anti-Racist Practice Webinar Series
  • Microsoft Office and Excel Training
