The County of Humboldt has a new mass notification system to warn residents of hazards affecting or threatening the county, including tsunamis, significant weather events, criminal activity, and other events. The upgraded system, managed by the Sheriff’s Office, allows individuals to register cell phone numbers, land lines, and email addresses for voice and/or text notifications. These alerts can now be sent to specific areas within the county, if needed, or to all residents who are registered to receive these alerts.

The new mass notification system will be tested on March 25, the same day that tsunami sirens will be activated in Humboldt County and public outreach coordinated through television, radio, NOAA weather radio, and a coastal overflight with audio, along with other coastal California counties. Register in advance to receive the test notification.
