The Garberville branch of the Humboldt County Library is excited to announce some upcoming changes in service with the construction of a new library.

During construction, the Garberville Library will be housed in the Department of Health and Human Services office located at 727 Cedar Street in Garberville. Creating this temporary home for the library was a collaborative effort among County staff from the Library, DHHS and DHHS Information Services, the County Administrative Office, Information Technology, and Public Works/Building Maintenance. The Library appreciates the generous welcome provided by DHHS staff in sharing their space and the creative work of everyone involved.

At this temporary location, the library will continue to offer curbside services Tuesday through Friday from 5 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. To request library materials, find e-books, library databases and online services, visit www.humlib.org or call the library at 707-923-2230. If you miss finding surprises at the library, ask for a “grab bag” of assorted titles to check out. The library is at your service for information and reference needs.

Public access Wi-Fi will be available outside 727 Cedar St. Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.

The Garberville book drop is temporarily closed and residents are asked to hold on to their library materials until further notice. Any overdue charges will be waived.

The Humboldt County bookmobile is making special visits to Garberville on the first four Thursdays of each month.,. You can visit the bookmobile at the Garberville Post Office, 368 Sprowl Creek Road, from 2:15 to 4:15 p.m. on those Thursdays.

The Garberville Campus Complex broke ground on September 2 and will house the library, the Sheriff’s substation, and a meeting room in a modern, energy-efficient building. The library will feature accessible computer workstations, high-speed wireless internet, a multimedia projector for special events, a children’s section, and a reading and study area. The project is expected to be completed in early 2021.

For any questions about library services, call the Garberville Library at 707-923-2230 or visit the library’s website at www.humlib.org
