The Citizens’ Advisory Committee for Measure Z Expenditures will hold its first meeting on Monday afternoon at 3:30 in Conference Room A on the first floor of the Humboldt County Courthouse. This will be an organizational meeting to discuss procedural matters relating to the committee’s meetings. The purpose is for committee members to meet each other, hear about the status of the County’s budget, receive projections regarding Measure Z revenues, and discuss committee roles and expectations. A follow-up meeting is anticipated for the committee to select officers, create a schedule for future meetings, and discuss funding criteria.

In last year’s election, voters approved Measure Z, Humboldt County’s public safety/essential services measure, which enacted a half-cent sales tax to be applied throughout the county for five years. In addition, the measure created a citizens’ advisory committee, which will make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors on how revenue from the measure should be spent. Monday’s meeting will be the first for this committee.
