The Planning Commission wants to encourage public participation on the amendments to the Zoning Ordinance. In order to increase public understanding the review of the amendments have been divided into smaller pieces as follows:
Group 1 – Land Use Element/Agricultural & Forest Resources Related Zoning Changes
[Timberland Exclusive, Agriculture Exclusive, and Timber Production Zones, and
Planned Rural Development Combining Zone]
Group 2 – Conservation and Open Space Element Related Zoning Changes
Open Space Action Plan and Open Space Consistency Related Changes
[Streamside Management Area Regulations, Flood Hazard Areas Combining Zone, and
Chapter 2 Open Space Consistency Findings]
Group 3 – Land Use Element – Urban Lands Related Zoning Changes
[Mixed Use Zones – MU1 (Urban) and MU2 (Rural), Special Building Site Combining Zone – B1]
On April 4 Group 1 and 2 will be considered by the Planning Commission. Group 3 will be considered on April 18. Each meeting will begin at 6 pm in the Board of Supervisors Chambers at the Humboldt County Courthouse. The Planning Commission will take action on each group and pass its recommendation on to the Board of Supervisors.
The proposed new Zone Districts and Zoning Regulation amendments would apply throughout the non-coastal areas of unincorporated Humboldt County. Information on zoning text amendments to implement the General Plan is available on the county’s website.
All members of the public are encouraged to attend. For more information regarding the workshop , please contact John Miller at (707) 268-3781, jpmiller@co.humboldt.ca.us.
