Over the past 14 years, the County of Humboldt and community partners have created a network that serves local businesses. Called the Prosperity Network, this group has undertaken projects that have helped start more than 700 businesses and create or retain more than 5,200 jobs, resulting in more than $87 million in increased sales.
On Saturday evening, you can attend the Prosperity Showcase to hear directly from members of the Prosperity Network and learn more about current projects that are strengthening our local economy. The event will begin at 6 p.m. and take place at the Carson Block Building on F Street in Eureka during Arts Alive!.
Projects to be showcased include:
• Open Door Wellness Center in Eureka
• Remodeling and retrofitting of the Carson Block Building
• Fly Humboldt
• Samoa Pulp Mill
• Humboldt Made
• Humboldt State University intern program
• Cash Mobs
• Humboldt Business Challenge
• Redwood Acres Fairgrounds
• Decade of Difference, Lemonade Day
• Map of the Movies
More than 450 businesses and community leaders guided the developments of our updated Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy, called “Prosperity.” Prosperity identifies the industry clusters that demonstrate the greatest opportunity for Humboldt County’s residents, despite economic boom and bust cycles, and lays out the goals, strategies and actions to make the most of Humboldt County’s assets, challenges and opportunities.
