8/16/2016: On Saturday, August 13, 2016 an autopsy was performed on decedent Brials McCutcheon. The autopsy report confirmed Brials died from a gunshot wound. Freese at (707) 268-3639. Previous 08/09/16: The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office has determined the death of Brials McCutcheon to be a homicide. On 08-09-2016, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Detectives and Evidence Technicians served a Humboldt County Superior Court Search Warrant on the victim’s vehicle. Detectives are examining numerous items of evidence that were seized from inside of the vehicle. An autopsy has been scheduled for Saturday, 08-13-2016. Previous (08/08/16): On Saturday afternoon at approximately 1739 hours, Deputies from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office responded to an area on Crestview Drive in Eureka regarding the report of a suspicious circumstance. On arrival, Deputies discovered that 41 year old Brials Nelson McCutcheon was in immediate need of medical attention. McCutcheon was transported by medical staff to a local hospital and was pronounced deceased by attending hospital staff. McCutcheon’s family has been notified of his death and the investigation is ongoing. Previous (8/6/16): On 08/06/16 at about 5:40 pm, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 4300 block of Crestview Dr. in Eureka for a report of a possible self-inflicted gunshot victim. Upon their arrival, deputies located a male subject suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was located lying next to a black colored four door Toyota Tacoma pick-up, which he is believed to be associated with. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Due to the suspicious nature of the shooting, HCSO Detectives responded to the scene and are investigating this matter. The victim’s identity is being withheld at this time pending the on-going investigation.
