A man wanted in connection to a shooting near Weitchpec has been taken into custody.
In the afternoon of Feb. 16, 2021, wanted attempted homicide suspect Derrick Anthony Lewis, age 31, turned himself in to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. Lewis was wanted in connection to a shooting near Weitchpec on February 13 which left one person injured.
Lewis was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of attempted murder (PC 664/187), assault with a firearm on a person (PC 245(a)(2)), conspiracy to commit a crime (PC 182(a)(1)), exhibiting a firearm (PC 417(a)(2)) and discharging a firearm in gross neglect (PC 2463(a)).
