The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office and Office of Emergency Services strongly encourage all residents to register for the county’s public mass notification system, VESTA Alert. Alerts may be sent about developing or existing emergency conditions, including natural hazards, evacuation orders, weather advisories, major road closures, and other important public safety information. Alerts are only sent for emergencies. You have the option of registering a landline phone number for voice notifications, registering a cell phone number for voice and/or text alerts, and/or an email address for more detailed text alerts. Register at https://humboldtcounty.onthealert.com VESTA Alert is NOT Reverse 911. Reverse 911 is a proprietary system and was only able to reach landlines in the past, while the new system can also contact cell phones and email addresses. If you have received Reverse 911 calls in the past, your information may not be in the new system. Register online to ensure you are promptly contacted about emergency conditions that may affect your family and community. A valid street address must be entered to register, allowing targeted notifications specific to your area. If the map does not load on the registration page, the address you enter will not be recognized. Please refresh the page to load the map as needed when signing up. Please email oes@co.humbold.ca.us if you are still unable to sign up after refreshing the page. Thank you for doing your part to prepare your household for emergencies! Mike Downey Sheriff
