On Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at about 9:45 p.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an at risk missing person. The reporting party stated her daughter, 20 year old Carrie Lawson had been missing from their residence on the 1500 block of Anderson Ave, McKinleyville, since about 10 a.m. that morning. Lawson is at risk due to being developmentally delayed (approximate mental age of 13), Autistic, and epileptic. Lawson’s mother stated she walked away from their residence sometime between 9 and 10 a.m. yesterday morning. Lawson was noticed missing a short time later. The family searched for Lawson until contacting the Sheriff’s Office at 9:45 p.m. Lawson’s mother stated Lawson requires assistance throughout the day and would be unable to fend for herself alone. Lawson does not possess a cellphone, and her ID and other personal items were left at the residence. Deputies searched the area without success. The search for Lawson continued on Thursday, June 2nd. Lawson eventually contacted law enforcement. She requested her location not be disclosed to her family. Deputies responded to her location and determined she was safe and well. Lawson’s parents were notified and she is no longer considered a missing person. Mike Downey Sheriff
