The following information is being provided on behalf of the City of Rio Dell’s Police Department regarding earthquake response and recovery information:
WELFARE CHECKS
If requesting welfare checks for individuals who reside outside of the city limits of Rio Dell, contact the law enforcement agency in which they reside or contact the Humboldt County Office of Emergency Services directly at 707-268-2500.
EARTHQUAKE DEBRIS DISPOSAL
Rio Dell citizens may utilize the two dumpsters located outside of Rio Dell City Hall, 675 Wildwood Avenue, to dispose of earthquake debris. Please do not dispose hazardous waste in these receptacles. Hazardous items not fit for disposal in these receptacles include leftover household products that can catch fire, react, or explode under certain circumstances, or that are corrosive or toxic as household hazardous waste. Products, such as paints, cleaners, oils, batteries, and pesticides can contain hazardous ingredients and require special care when you dispose of them. WATER SERVICE
Water is partially restored throughout some parts of the city, however, the entire city is under a Boil Water Advisory. If you have water, boil it for at least one minute or use bottled water for drinking and food preparation until further notice. Water is safe for bathing and non-consumption activities. BUILDING INSPECTION TAGS ON RESIDENCES
If your residence has been tagged by building inspectors, follow the directions as listed on the tag. If you have any further questions regarding the tag placed on your residence, visit Rio Dell City Hall at 675 Wildwood Avenue or call directly at 707-764-3532. If you received a red or yellow tag on your residence and you are wanting to safely retrieve items, call the Rio Dell Fire Department directly at 707-506-5083.

American Red Cross Overnight Shelter:
Located at Fireman's Pavilion at Rohner Park, located at 9 Park Street, Fortuna, CA
The Overnight Shelter will provide the following services:
- Shelter
- Cots and blankets
- Hygiene kits
- Snacks and full meals
- Water
- Charging stations
- Portable showers
