The victim in this case has been identified as 30 year old, Mark Duane Nelson from Hoopa. On 05-06-2015 at about 12:00 p.m. Nelson was cleared for released from Mad River Hospital after being treated for his stab wound. Nelson was then arrested by the Sheriff’s Office, because he had a no bail, felony arrest warrant for violation of parole. Nelson was then transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked on his arrest warrant.
The Sheriff’s office is still asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect who assaulted Nelson on 05-04-2015 off Marshall Lane, Hoopa.

On 05-04-2015 at about 12:12 p.m. the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office responded to Marshall Lane off Highway 96, Hoopa, regarding a 30 year old male victim, who had been stabbed. The male victim reported to the Sheriff Deputy he was walking northbound on Marshall Lane, when an unknown male subject came up from behind him and stabbed him for unknown reasons. After the victim was stabbed the suspect took off running on Marshall Lane.
The victim described the suspects as: a Native American male adult, approximately 6 feet tall, 185-210 pounds in weight, clean shaven, wearing a black hooded sweat shirt. The victim did not know the age of the suspect. The victim was transported to a local hospital via an ambulance. The condition of the victim is unknown at this time.
Deputies are currently on Marshall Lane attempting to locate the crime scene, any possible witnesses and the suspect to this assault.
