On 03-28-2015, at about 8:15 PM, the Sheriff’s Office received a call for service regarding a possible home invasion robbery occurring on the 1900 block of Ocean Dr., in McKinleyville, Ca. It was reported that firearms may be involved, and shots may have been fired.
Deputies responded to the area, set up a perimeter, and secured the scene. Officers from the California Highway Patrol and BLM responded to assist. Deputies contacted the Victim and learned he had thwarted the burglary by arming himself and confronting Suspects. Deputies were able to determine the Suspects did not fire any weapons during this incident, and no one was believed to have been injured. The Suspects fled the area on foot just as the Deputies arrived on scene. The Victims in this case knew the Suspects, and were able to identify them by name.
The Suspects were identified as:
Larry Lockhart, 23, of McKinleyville
Blaine Martin, 22, of Trinidad
Michael Cady Jr., 25, of McKinleyville
Deputies and CHP Officers searched the surrounding areas and eventually located all three Suspects. Deputies recovered two firearms from the Suspects, one of which was reported as stolen. Deputies believed there may have been a third firearm involved. This third firearm was described as an AR15 style rifle. Deputies searched several properties in the area, but were unable to locate that firearm. The three Suspects were arrested and booked for Attempted Robbery and Attempted Burglary.
This case is currently under investigation.
