On June 24, 2019, at about 8:57 a.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Humboldt Redwood Company on Monument Road, in the county’s jurisdiction of Rio Dell, for the report of one subject being detained by the company’s private security personnel.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived on scene and learned that Courtney Lynn Dressler, 26, of Arcata, was found trespassing approximately five miles up Monument Road on company property.

Dressler was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of trespassing with the intention of obstructing lawful business [PC 602(k)].
On June 25, 2019, at about 3:43 a.m., sheriff’s deputies were again dispatched to Humboldt Redwood Company property for the report of approximately 15 protesters blocking the company’s access gate on Monument Road. Additionally, a male subject had reportedly locked himself to an excavator located on the property.
Deputies arrived on scene and located multiple protesters in the roadway, in addition to four subjects locked together near the gate. Further into the property, deputies also located the male subject locked to the excavator. The subject was identified as Stanton Frederick Wood, 33, of Eureka.

Wood was safely removed from the excavator and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of unlawful assembly [PC 407], remaining at the scene of an unlawful assembly after being warned [PC 409] and refusing to leave private property [PC 602(o)].
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public to obey all laws when protesting a cause. Sheriff’s deputies will continue to respond as needed to Monument Road if further violations of state law occur.
