During the week
of March 27th, 2017, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Deputies conducted
a sex offender sweep at various locations throughout the county. The purpose of
this sweep was to make sure sex registrants are complying with California
Department of Justice Laws, providing law enforcement with updated addresses of
where they reside.
With the
assistance from the United States Marshal’s Office, Santa Clara County
Sheriff’s Office, Humboldt County Probation Department, Rio Dell Police
Department and FBI, 329 registrants were attempted to be contacted. It was
found that 256 registrants were in compliance, 32 were out of compliance, 3
were determined to be deceased, 35 were unable to be located, contacted or
verified and 3 were arrested.
Arrest warrants
are being requested through the Humboldt County DA’s Office for the 32
registrants that were found to be out of compliance. HCSO will continue to
attempt contact with the 35 registrants that were unable to be contacted along
with additional registrants residing within the county.
