The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is pleased
to announce the 2nd annual: Re-entry Fair!
This event will occur March 27th -29th in the
Humboldt County Correctional Facility in Eureka. This event takes place in
conjunction with the Criminal Justice Dialogue, a week-long HSU conference
committed to addressing the myriad of difficulties surrounding the
reintegration of our incarcerated community. This conference will be held March
20th-24th at Humboldt State University’s Native Forum from 6-8pm, and is open
to the community.
The Re-entry Fair is a three day event committed
to supporting reentry concerns encountered
by the inmates of the Humboldt County
Correctional Facility. The first day of the event will focus
on job etiquette. Our staff and HSU volunteers
will spend the day engaging inmates in techniques to promote successful
employment upon release. On March 28th, we have several employers confirmed to
come into the correctional facility and talk with inmates about employment
opportunities upon release.
The final day, March 29th, is a community
resource day. There will be community organizations ranging from housing, treatment
programs, child welfare services, tribal services, education, AOD, and more to
meet with inmates and share materials.
Employers and program representatives will have
the opportunity to meet directly with inmates and provide them with
informational materials on their services. This type of event is the 2nd for
the Humboldt County Correctional Facility. The Sheriff’s Office goal is to
reduce recidivism within our community, and to prepare the individuals leaving
our facility for success upon release. We are in a pivotal time for developing
reentry services, and we are excited to launch continued efforts to ensure a
well-planned re-entry for all.
Thank you,
Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office
