Update (1/25/17):
On Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at approximately 7:06 a.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Investigators, with the assistance of the Humboldt County SWAT team, served a search warrant at a residence in the 1200 block of Felt Rd. in Miranda. While serving the search warrant, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Investigators detained two subjects. One of the subjects, 36 year old Casey Floyd Felt, was subsequently arrested in connection with the shooting of a 24 year old female victim near Miranda on Thursday, January 19, 2017. Felt was arrested without incident and taken to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked for domestic violence, assault with a firearm, shooting at an inhabited dwelling or vehicle, being a felon in possession of a firearm and an outstanding warrant for driving on a suspended license. His bail has been set at $110,000.
This case is still under investigation by the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division. Previous (1/20/17):
On Thursday, January 19, 2017 at approximately 5:30 p.m. the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a gunshot victim at a Redwood Memorial Hospital (RMH). Deputies met with the 24 year old female victim with a gunshot wound to the upper leg. The victim stated she was in her parked vehicle in a turnout on Hwy 254 near Miranda when two masked male subjects approached her vehicle and began shooting at her vehicle. The victim exited her vehicle and the suspects demanded money and drugs, neither of which the victim produced. The suspects then took her cell phone, shot the victim in the leg and fled in an unknown vehicle in an unknown direction. The victim was later picked up by a passerby and was taken to RMH and is in stable condition.
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating this incident as an attempted homicide.
