Today the County of Humboldt, on behalf of the Humboldt County Fire Safe Council (HCFSC), initiated a request for proposals (RFP) process intended to identify qualified contractors to conduct community “Chipper Days”, provide defensible space assistance to eligible residents, implement roadside vegetation treatment/shaded fuel breaks, and assist with the production of a wildfire safety brochure. The County of Humboldt intends to fill multiple contracts for aspects or combinations of the activities listed above with innovative and locally effective approaches. Additionally, this RFP process is intended to gain a better understanding of the contractor pool capable of adequately and efficiently providing much needed wildfire preparedness services throughout the county.
The two RFPs currently being issued will secure the services of contractors to assist with the successful completion of the HCFSC’s Community Wildfire Protection Plan Implementation: Phase II Program. The Program is aimed at building a feasible, effective, and replicable model project approach to increasing community resilience to wildfire. To achieve desired outcomes, the County expects to issue several small to medium sized contracts, ranging from $1,500 to $50,000, potentially in a phased approach over the life of the Program. The proposal submission deadline for this initial set of RFPs is 5:00 pm, December 16, 2019.
