The County of Humboldt, on behalf of the Humboldt County Fire Safe Council (HCFSC), is seeking proposals from qualified consultants to assist with the update of the Humboldt County Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP).
The CWPP is a critical planning tool that guides wildfire resilience efforts across Humboldt County. First certified in 2006 and last updated in 2019, the CWPP has been instrumental in securing over $65 million in implementation funding and continues to serve as a cornerstone for wildfire resilience planning.
The 2025 update will retain the strong framework of the existing plan while incorporating updated risk data, public engagement, and alignment with the latest science and best practices. This effort will ensure the CWPP remains a relevant and effective tool for local mitigation groups, agencies, and communities working to reduce wildfire risk.
Consultants may apply for one or both of the following roles:
Planning & Facilitation – Support public outreach, engagement, and plan writing
Spatial Analysis & Mapping – Conduct risk assessments and support prioritization
Deadline to apply: Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. PST
Subscribe to the HCFSC email list to follow progress and contribute to this important effort.
Funding for this project is provided by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection’s (CAL FIRE) Wildfire Prevention Grants Program as part of the California Climate Investments Program.
