[ARCHIVED] County Wildfire Plan: Public Comment Period Extended

CWPP Public Draft Banner October 2018 Deadline

County Wildfire Plan: Public Comment Period Extended

The deadline has been extended to review and comment on Humboldt County’s draft update of its strategic plan for how to prepare for wildfire. The Public Review Draft of the Humboldt County Community Wildfire Protection Plan or “CWPP”— will now be available until October 12, 2018. The CWPP provides information intended to inspire and guide wildfire preparedness action. The CWPP is being updated to keep up with changing conditions and best practices for minimizing the impacts of wildfire. Please take a look and send us your feedback. Thanks so much to those of you who have already sent in comments. We are getting started now on making some important improvements to the plan for the final draft.

In addition to the main body of the CWPP, which has a countywide focus, there is a planning unit action plan for each of the county’s 14 planning units—geographic units of analysis developed for the purposes of localized fire planning. These plans are tailored to their respective unit with descriptions of wildfire hazards and associated action recommendations particular to the area. These 14 plans are on a different review schedule from the rest of the CWPP and will be posted as ready with individual deadlines. Please let us know if you would like to be informed when your community’s plan is posted for review.
