The Humboldt Housing and Homeless Coalition invites members of the community to the Adorni Center Thursday, Aug. 11, to learn more about Housing First.
The free, all-day Housing First Summit will feature keynote speaker Sam Tsemberis, Ph.D., founder of Pathways to Housing, which developed the Housing First model.
Doors open at 9 a.m. Tsemberis will provide a keynote address from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a question-and-answer session with the audience until 11. From 11 a.m. to noon there will be a “Housing First 101” presentation by HomeBase, a nonprofit public interest law firm dedicated to the social problem of homelessness.
A free lunch will be provided to attendees at noon. The afternoon session will include a panel discussion from formerly homeless people as well as breakout sessions focusing on homeless service providers, landlord engagement, the health care system and how the business community and other community members can get involved.
Seats are still available. Please email DHHS_TES@co.humboldt.ca.us or call 707-441-5520 to RSVP. The Adorni Center is located at 1011 Waterfront Drive in Eureka.
