Humboldt County Public Health reported today eight new hospitalizations including one resident in their 50s, five in their 70s and two aged 80 and older. No new deaths were reported.

An additional 83 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 were announced as well as 60 new probable cases for the period between Tuesday, Oct. 18 and Tuesday, Oct. 25. The total number of confirmed cases in the county stands at 22,259. An additional 5,306 cases are reported as probable.*

Due to staff shortages at Public Health, starting Wednesday, Nov. 2, the Humboldt County COVID-19 Data Dashboard will transition to the Humboldt County section of the California Department of Public Health’s COVID-19 Dashboard. Click here and scroll down to see Humboldt County. Local information including case counts and vaccination numbers will continue to be updated weekly through these news releases.

“We are moving to tools like the state’s dashboard to continue providing the community with data on COVID-19, while giving our communicable disease staff the time needed to focus on outbreak response for our highest-risk populations,” Public Health Director Sofia Pereira said. Additional information about the changes will be provided next week.

Local vaccination data has been updated on the COVID-19 Data Dashboard. Highlights include:

  • Since the last weekly report on Oct. 19, an additional 100 residents completed their vaccine series.
  • A total of 92.036 individuals, or approximately 68% of the county’s total population, have been fully vaccinated as of Tuesday.

Bivalent boosters for young childrenthe Moderna bivalent booster for children ages 6 and older and the Pfizer bivalent booster for children ages 5 and olderare now available at all Public Health clinics throughout the county. Appointments are required and can be made at MyTurn.ca.gov.

Additionally, both of the bivalent boosters for teens and adults, the Moderna and Pfizer versions, continue to be available. All bivalent boosters are single-dose and include components of the original virus strain and the Omicron subvariants. People can receive the updated booster regardless of previous booster doses received.

OptumServe still offers rapid antigen testing and PCR testing services at the Wharfinger Building in Eureka seven days a week.
