This is a not-for-credit course for educators, service providers and any person who needs to talk with deaf, hard of hearing, or nonverbal people on a regular basis. Students will be introduced to the basics of American Sign Language (ASL) and the signs most used in daily life. Topics include signs related to everyday life situations, simple questions, and key cultural differences and expectations when talking with people who are deaf or nonverbal. This class is focused on practical skills.

Get started with computers and grow more skilled in using the internet, email, and computer files with CR instructor Corrinne M. Haskins as your guide. If you have have little or no computer know-how (or just need a refresh of old skills) this is the class for you. Computers are provided, or feel free to bring your own device to practice with. Take one Saturday class or as many as fit your needs and schedule with this easy, ongoing drop-in format.

Members of the Eureka Chinatown Project share perspectives and updates on current research into Humboldt County's Chinese history. Hear about the ongoing work undertaken by this diligent group. Today's panelists are Daryl Chinn, Katie Buesch, Yolanda Latham, Alex Service and Rob Cliver.

Get your creativity and imagination going with a new build theme each meeting. This free LEGO Club welcomes kids to use the Library's LEGO collection to build on an idea, display what they build, and get creative problem-solving skills while having fun. The club is set up for kids ages 6-12. Please leave your own LEGOs at home (unless you want to donate them as outlined below!)

Wear your art! It's fun to make your own pin-on button with natural materials that you have gathered yourself, or select from the library's stash of dried leaves, flowers, feathers, and bark. Stop by any time today for a turn with the library's button maker. Or, attach a magnet instead of a pin and dress up your fridge instead of yourself!

Join Ms. Sue and Sunshine the Chicken for pre-school storytime stories, shaker eggs, and rhythm sticks!

On the first 3 Saturdays of each month, Saturday Story Time welcomes children 12 and under who come with a parent or guardian. Enjoy stories, craft projects and sometimes dancing at this child-centered event that happens each Saturday before the library opens for other activities.

Come to the library to start your weekend with fun! Stories and simple craft activities start you off with learning and doing. Afterward pick out a stack of books and you can be set for the week!
