Every Saturday, 10:00 AM, Arcata Library. Free American Sign Language (CR Adult Ed Class, in Person)

This is a not-for-credit course for educators, service providers and any person who needs to talk with deaf, hard of hearing, or nonverbal people on a regular basis. Students will be introduced to the basics of American Sign Language (ASL) and the signs most used in daily life. Topics include signs related to everyday life situations, simple questions, and key cultural differences and expectations when talking with people who are deaf or nonverbal. This class is focused on practical skills.

Saturdays, 11:00 AM, Eureka Library. Decision Making & Problem Solving, (CR Adult Education Class, Free, in Person)

This not-for-credit class is an introduction to decision-making and problem-solving techniques in the workplace. Specific strategies for making decisions and solving problems will be presented, as well as the use of creativity in identifying solutions.

1:00 PM, Reading in Place discusses 'How to Say I Love you with Wikipedia' by Beth Goder (Zoom)

Each Saturday we're discussing a different short story which can be read for free online. Sign up with the Google Form linked below. (Make sure to click the Submit button at the end of the form, below the video links).

11:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Eureka Library, Animal Exploration Party! (In Person)

Families are invited to an all-day Animal Exploration Party in the Children’s Room of Eureka Library. Join us all day for drop-in activities such as crafts, puzzles, animal tracks, party hat making, puppets, story time, and dancing. We hope to see you there – dress up and party hats are welcome!

10:30 AM, Fortuna Library, Unicorn Story Time & Art

You are invited to visit the library for a special literacy and art event all about unicorns! Children of all ages and their families are welcome. We will read books, sing songs, and celebrate unicorns with fun, creative activities.

Garberville Library is CLOSED today due to the power outage. Expects to be open Tuesday as usual.

8:30 AM, Starfish Radio Hour with Shoshanna (Live Online)

Listen up! Humboldt County Library invites families everywhere to tune into a weekly radio program hosted by Shoshanna featuring songs and stories. Each week has a different theme and showcases items from our library collection, local musicians and storytellers, and news about upcoming events.

10:00 AM Arcata Library, Saturday Storytime with Ms. Sue (In Person)

Ms. Sue and Sunshine the Chicken can't wait to welcome preschool friends and their caregivers for stories, songs, and shaker egg fun. Masks are optional, and Ms. Sue will be wearing one.

12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM, Trinidad Library. Drop In & Read to Katie the Dog (in Person)

Our beloved Katie is returning!! She has missed the young readers and storytellers and is eagerly looking forward to seeing all of you again. Katie is a specially trained dog who volunteers with her handler as a team. When kids read, Katie pays attention – a huge incentive. Kids have fun and build confidence as they read to an interested, uncritical four-footed friend.
