This stunning debut novel spans one year in the life of a family and northern California logging community – summer 1977 to summer 1978 – as they cling to a threatened way of life. It is a heartbreaking, compassionate page-turner about work and honor with a love story at its core.

Eureka's Poet Laureate, Wil Gibson, will host the remaining two poetry workshops in this series, taking off from Muhammad Ali's dance with contradictions and his singular mystique. Free yourself to write with poetry magic from Gibson, then (if you have written something you like) you may want to enter it in the InkPeople art and poetry exhibit focusing on Ali's legacy. Later, there will be an anti-racist activism discussion as well (see link for date and details). All events in this series follow September's PBS documentary series 'Muhammad Ali' by Ken Burns, Sarah Burns, and David McMahon.
