October 24, 2020, 10:00 AM - 10:45 AM @ Online zoom program
This is a generational virtual reading group for parents and children ages 9-12 to learn more about the world and build an oral knowledge of vocabulary. Families read and bond through books with historical themes focusing on equity, racism, and family. October's title is 'Loretta Little Looks Back, Three Voices Go Tell It', by Andrea Pinkney. This story offers parents an eloquent platform to talk to children about racism. Reading together models enthusiasm for the act of reading and underscores how reading is a cherished communal activity. Reading aloud together lets younger family members hear content that they understand, but whose text is too complex for them to read independently.
