StoryWalk starts right next to the Library - City Hall area
and ends near Perigot Park.
The Annie and Mary Rail Trail passes through the City of Blue Lake following the route of the Arcata and Mad River Railroad. Stop by for an easy stroll (it's also wheelchair, bicycle and stroller friendly). Read the children's picture book Senorita Mariposa (Miss Butterfly) while you go! 17 signboards along the route feature the colorful pages of this picture book that tells the story of the beauty and power of the monarch butterfly as you walk along. You can read it in English or Spanish, or both.
Larson Park
Stories and songs from librarian Sue Parsons cap a wonderful morning of outdoor play for children aged newborn to 5 years old. This free play event is a safe and comfortable environment for children to interact with other children while learning important playtime social skills. Caregivers have an opportunity to gain support from each other. In response to rising COVID transmission rates we’ve moved outdoors to explore Arcata’s parks and playgrounds together. Please wear your mask, and leave your personal toys at home. Instead, the playgroup has fun items in multiples to share!
