Children who often hear stories read aloud learn how to listen, learn more words and how to use them, and absorb new facts and ideas. 6:00 PM, Arcata Library's 'A Novel Idea' Book Group, 'Hamnet' (Hybrid - in Person & Zoom)2023-01-26T18:00:00'Hamnet' traces a parent's worst nightmare: the death of a child. Set in Stratford, England, in the late 16th century, Hamnet wrestles with the emotional, domestic, and artistic upset in the life of the world's most famous (though never named) playwright and his wife after their only son, 11-year-old Hamnet, succumbs to the bubonic plague in 1596. Four years later, the boy's father channels his grief into his masterpiece — titled with a common variant of his son's name — in which the father dies and the son lives to avenge him.

Tuesdays at 11:00 AM, Trinidad Library Story Time (in Person)2023-01-31T11:00:00Story time is a great activity for children. Children who often hear stories read aloud learn how to listen, learn more words and how to use them, and absorb new facts and ideas. In the adventure of story, kids also grow in imagination, problem-solving and creativity. Kids love to notice details in the pictures that tell parts of the story not found in the words, and they love to guess what might happen next!
