Do you want to improve your reading? Do you know someone who needs to learn to read? Reading is essential not only as a leisure activity but for success in all aspects of everyday life. Key areas where reading is very important include finding employment, finding housing, and using social services. Should you sign a cell phone agreement or apartment lease if you can’t read it? How do you fill out a job application without being able to fully understand the job description and employee responsibilities? In Humboldt County, an estimated 13,800 adults are functionally illiterate; they read below a fifth-grade level. Another 23,000 people in our county read below an eighth-grade level. Since 1985, Humboldt Literacy Project has been matching adult learners with trained tutors. Stop by and find out how you can be a part of it!

The lights will be on low so kids can see their masks and walk about safely. Here's the story: Bob and Helen Parr and their three children are living an ordinary life in the suburbs, when Bob (a.k.a. the superhero 'Mr. Incredible') gets a secret assignment to save the world. But he can't do it alone...turns out the whole family will need to get into the act, even baby Jack-Jack! What's daily life like for a superhero family? Hilarious, action packed, and dangerous, but here's one family that sticks together through thick and thin.

Hold on to your seats with this 2018, action-packed, joke-filled retelling of the classic Peter Rabbit story in which naughty little rabbits get into Mr. MacGregor's garden. In this version, they get into the house too - all kinds of animals, and young Peter is just the instigator. Old MacGregor has died and grand-nephew MacGregor plans to sell the house and garden, but he hasn't reckoned with the animals, who fight back in a struggle that includes lots of slapstick humor to make kids giggle. This isn't your grandmother's Peter Rabbit, so it's rated PG. Careful parents will want to read the Common Sense Media reviews, and perhaps balance them with the Wikipedia or imdb description of the film.
