Follow the same basic instructions, just find a safe place near the parking lot to wait for your delivery. Wait there in that safe spot. There will be a sign near the front of the library to tell you of a good place to wait.
Please check with your branch for book drop times and days. Book drops may not be open every day. Why? This helps us to quarantine library materials and keep everyone safe. ’Book Safety Quarantine’ (6 days or more) is a key factor in our ability to provide virus-free paper books, magazines, CDs and DVDs to you.
In the past, Zip Books could only be returned in person to a staff member. For now, please package them securely in a ziplock bag or a padded mailer before you put them in the book drop. Interlibrary Loan service has not resumed yet. If you have an urgent need to return an Interlibrary Loan book, or a book without packaging, please call the library for instructions.
Sometimes book drops may be too full. This means that you may find a book drop isn’t available when we thought it would be. Please keep your items if that happens, and contact the library.
Because your returned items are placed in quarantine, it will be at least a week before they are checked in. Items may show as overdue on your account. Please don’t worry. Any fines on books that become overdue while in safety quarantine are waived. You will not be charged.
We are not accepting any materials donations at this time due to our health and safety plan during the pandemic. Normally, donations are accepted by volunteers from the Friends of the Library, who sort the items into usable and unusable groups, Donations not chosen for the library collection are sold to raise money for library projects. Volunteers are not at the library now, and none of this can happen.
Thank you for thinking of us when your books need a new home. Please keep them somewhere safe and dry if you would like them to be in good condition for donation in the future!
