On Dec. 3, 2019, at about 4:26 p.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a business on the 1500 block of Anna Sparks Way in McKinleyville for the report of a robbery that had just occurred.
According to a store employee, the suspect, later identified as 22-year-old Sweet Molly Joann Adkins, attempted to leave the business with approximately $150 worth of stolen merchandise. The employee confronted Adkins about the stolen merchandise. Adkins then reportedly brandished a folding pocket knife and threatened to injure the employee. Adkins fled the scene in a vehicle.
The vehicle was soon after spotted by an Arcata Police Department officer, who followed it into the Eureka area. Sheriff’s deputies responded and conducted a felony traffic stop on the vehicle near the intersection of H and Hodgson Streets.
During a search of the vehicle, deputies located the stolen merchandise and the pocket knife.
Adkins was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of robbery (PC 211), exhibiting a deadly weapon other than a firearm (PC 417(a)(1)) and violation of probation (PC 1203.2(a)(2)).
