Beginning Wednesday, July 5, the Humboldt County Planning & Building Department will require permit application packages to be submitted digitally.
This new requirement aims to streamline the permit application process for staff and support applicants by reducing travel, in person waiting time, and costs to produce paper plans.
Building related permit application submissions will be accepted via email at buildinginspections@co.humboldt.ca.us and planning related submissions will be accepted at planningbuilding@co.humboldt.ca.us.
Once applications are received, permit status can be accessed via the county’s existing online permit management system known as the Accela Citizen Access Customer Portal. To learn more on how to use Accela and find support resources, please visit the county’s Online Permit Management web page.
Community members who are unable to submit a digital application should email buildinginspections@co.humboldt.ca.us or planningbuilding@co.humboldt.ca.us or call (707) 445-7245 for assistance.
Humboldt County Planning & Building Department staff will continue to assess the digital permit application submission process and make improvements based on staff and community feedback.
