The Humboldt County Office of Elections encourages Southern Humboldt County voters to get prepared for the upcoming Special Elections taking place tomorrow, Tuesday, March 7.
The Special Elections will be held only for Humboldt County voters who live in the Salmon Creek Fire Protection District Formation area and the Garberville Fire Protection District and Annexation area.
How to Vote in the March 7 Special Elections
Southern Humboldt County voters may vote safely at home and return vote-by-mail ballots in the following ways:
- Mail it on or before Election Day, no postage is required.
- Drop it off in-person at either of the two available polling places on Tuesday, March 7.
Polling places for the Special Elections will be located at the South Fork High School Gymnasium Lobby, 6831 Hwy 254, Miranda, CA and at the SoHum Health Garberville Campus, located at 286 Sprowel Creek Road, Garberville, CA.
On the day of the election, polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. At polling place locations, voters can:
- Vote using accessible voting machines.
- Receive translation services in 72 languages.
- Get a replacement ballot.
- Drop off a vote-by-mail ballot.
- Vote on a precinct ballot.
- Update voter registration.
- Conditionally register to vote.
- Vote on a provisional ballot.
Voters who have received a vote-by-mail ballot who wish to vote in-person must bring their vote-by-mail ballot to surrender so they can vote a using a precinct ballot.
1% Manual Tally
The 1% Manual Tally will commence at 9 a.m. on Tuesday March 14, 2023 at the Humboldt County Office of Elections. The Office of Elections will begin a manual tally of one percent of cast ballots at the March 7 Special Election. This manual tally is open to the public and shall continue daily until completed, except on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays unless otherwise decided by the County Registrar of Voters.
