Looking to enjoy some family-friendly, delicious fun? Join the Department of Health & Human Services for “Food, Fun and Family,” a six-class series designed to help families eat more healthy foods.
The free classes start Thursday, July 16 and will focus on kitchen safety, creating a healthy plate, menu planning, label reading, smart shopping and cooking skills.
Each class will include a short lesson and then break off into small groups to prepare and sample a recipe, such as Veggie Scramble Wraps or Zesty Asian Salad.
Attendees will receive free cookbooks and a resource binder to take home. Children 8 and older are welcome with an adult. Classes are free, but space is limited, so please sign up by July 10.
Classes will be held at the Multi-Generational Center (MGC) in Fortuna Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., July 16 through Aug. 4.
The MGC is located at 2280 Newburg Road. To register for the classes or for more information, contact Michelle Postman at 441-5567 or mpostman@co.humboldt.ca.us .
