New Building Codes go into Effect on Jan. 1, 2023

2022 Title 24 CA Code Changes 06-29-22 Final (1)_Page_01

Every three years, the State of California adopts new building codes to establish uniform standards for the construction and maintenance of buildings, electrical systems, plumbing systems, mechanical systems, and fire and life safety systems.

California’s new 2022 Building Standards Code, established by the California Building Standards Commission (CBSC), also known as Title 24, will go into effect Jan. 1, 2023. All plans or permit applications submitted on or after Jan. 1, 2023, must comply with the updated codes.

The 2019 California codes will remain in effect for all plan and permit applications submitted to the Humboldt County Planning and Building Department on or before Dec. 31, 2022.
