The California Statewide General Election is Tuesday, Nov. 8, and the Humboldt County Office of Elections would like to remind Humboldt County residents that there is still time to avoid the lines and vote early.
Voters have the option to vote early in the following ways:
- Mail in your ballot on or before Election Day, no postage is required. In order for your ballot to be counted, it must be postmarked on or before Tuesday, Nov.8.
- Drop off your ballot at any county vote-by-mail drop box location before Nov.8th. Drop boxes will be sealed on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 8 p.m.
- Early voting is also available in person at the Humboldt County Office of Elections, located at 2426 6th Street in Eureka.
For a list of vote-by-mail drop box and polling place locations, please visit the Office of Election’s Voting Options web page. On the day of the election, polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. At polling place locations, voters can:
- Vote using accessible voting machines.
- Receive translation services in 72 languages.
- Get a replacement ballot.
- Drop off a vote-by-mail ballot.
- Vote on a precinct ballot.
- Update voter registration.
- Conditionally register to vote.
- Vote on a provisional ballot.
Voters are encouraged to vote early as those who chose to vote in-person should prepare for long lines. Voters who have received a vote-by-mail ballot who wish to vote in person must bring their vote-by-mail ballot to surrender so they can vote using a precinct ballot.
Eligible Humboldt County residents who missed the voter registration deadline to receive a ballot in the mail still have access to vote. Under California election law, Conditional Voter Registration allows a prospective voter to register conditionally and cast a provisional ballot. Conditional Voter Registration is only available in person, and you will need to allow for the extra time it will take you to fill out additional forms before voting.
