On Friday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Humboldt County Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) Public Health educators will be on hand to provide information about safe medication use at the ninth annual Disability and Senior Expo.
Hosted by Tri-County Independent Living, the event will be held at the Adorni Center in Eureka and will feature health care providers and representatives from community organizations available to speak with attendees about what’s available in Humboldt County for seniors and people with disabilities.
“Seniors and people with disabilities often have multiple prescriptions,” said Beth Wells, public health educator for DHHS. “They may not be aware of general safety guidelines for medication use, or how to safely store and dispose of them. To help people learn more about this, we have a spinner wheel game, pamphlets and we will also be distributing lock boxes to help people safely store their medications.”
The Adorni Center is located at 1011 Waterfront Drive in Eureka. For more information, phone 707-445-8404 or visit Tri-County’s website at www.tilinet.org.
