The Grind Café Lands at California Redwood Coast Humboldt County Airport

The Humboldt County Department of Aviation is excited to announce that The Grind Café is landing at the California Redwood Coast Humboldt County Airport (ACV) on Thursday, June 30.

In April 2020, Ramone’s vacated the restaurant space at ACV as a result of the drastic downturn in airline passenger activity due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. In August of 2021, the Board of Supervisors approved Project SOAR, a partnership between the County of Humboldt’s Division of Economic Development and the Humboldt County Department of Aviation, to enhance and improve economic autonomy and sustainability for ACV. Through Project SOAR, the team worked to issue a request for proposals to fill the vacant restaurant space.

“We are thrilled to welcome The Grind Café to ACV,” said Cody Roggatz, Director of Aviation for the County of Humboldt.” He added, “We have worked to reestablish a restaurant offering for travelers and visitors to enjoy while flying local, and I would like to thank the Board of Supervisors, county staff and everyone involved in making it happen.”

The Grind Café will provide visitors and residents a warm Humboldt welcome and farewell through a variety of dining options featuring authentic family recipes and local and organically sourced ingredients. Freshly made menu items will include coffee and pastry, grab-and-go sandwiches, salads, soups and limited dine-in meals, alcoholic beverages, and child friendly, vegan and gluten free offerings.

“I look forward to creating a convenient, delicious, and memorable experience for travelers passing through, employees working from and residents visiting ACV,” said Gabrielle Long, owner and founder of the local favorite, family-owned restaurant A Taste of Bim and owner of The Grind Café.

Starting on Thursday, June 30, The Grind Café will be open at the California Redwood Coast Humboldt County Airport, located at 3561 Boeing Ave in McKinleyville, seven days a week from 5 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

To celebrate the grand opening of The Grind Café at ACV, the McKinleyville Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony at ACV on Thursday, June 30 at 10 a.m. All community members are welcome to attend. For more information regarding the ribbon cutting ceremony, please email aviation@co.humboldt.ca.us or call 707-839-5401.
