Serve Your Community, Earn Extra Money as an Election Worker for the California Recall Election

Become an Election Worker Graphic

Election workers are needed as the Humboldt County Office of Elections is gearing up for the quickly approaching California Gubernatorial Recall Election on Sept.14.

The format will be similar to the 2020 Presidential General Election. The recall election will have nine, four-day Voter Assistance Centers that will be open Sept. 11-14 and five, one-day-only pop-up locations on Sept.14. Several assignments will be for multiple days, though there is plenty of demand for one-day clerks and election night workers as well.

The Elections Office is recruiting approximately 200 election workers to help run the election, with assignments ranging from people working only on election night to others that span from July 15–Sept. 30. Election workers must be able to read and write in fluent English, and either be registered to vote, or a high school student 16-17 years of age with a GPA of 2.5 or greater, or a permanent resident of the United States.

All election worker positions are paid. The poll worker positions are a great way to earn experience (individuals as young as 16 can apply), earn extra money and help ensure our election runs smoothly. Compensation for the position ranges from $20 per day (plus mileage) for ballot transporters, up to $15.81 per hour for Managers, and $430 for 4 days as a Clerk (with paid training).

The Election Worker Position Overview provides additional information about each position, including specific duties, time commitment, and compensation.

Complete your election worker application today on the Elections web page.
