As of Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020, fire crews have successfully created containment lines for the northwest section of the August Complex West Zone Fire near Humboldt County, preventing the fire from spreading into the county at this time. According to Cal Fire, the August Complex West Zone is currently 78,706 acres and 5 percent contained.

Humboldt County residents are encouraged to sign up for Humboldt Alert to receive local emergency notifications, including information regarding evacuations and emergency sheltering in the event of a future wildfire or other emergency incident. The Humboldt County Fire Evacuation Information Line at 707-268-2500 will remain staffed weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
