The Humboldt County-Department of Aviation will be holding live-fire training at the California Redwood Coast – Humboldt County Airport (ACV) on Monday, August 17 at 7:00 AM until Tuesday, August 18 at 4:30 PM. The live-fire training will occur intermittently throughout the day-time hours over this two-day period. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Regulations require that Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) staff at the ACV Airport conduct this training on an annual basis.
The training will include a mockup of an aircraft fuselage on fire and several emergency agencies and vehicles may be responding to the simulated aircraft accident at the airport. If you are near the airport during the training exercises, you may hear sirens or other loud noises associated with a typical aircraft emergency response.
If you have questions, please contact the Department of Aviation-Administration Office at 707-839-5401.
