Are you in need of a satisfying novel, a stimulating idea, or a wiring diagram for fixing your car? Would you like to browse through a magazine that you used to read in the grocery store check-out aisle? The Humboldt County Library is expanding online access to library resources with the e-account, a new electronic account for Humboldt County residents who do not currently have a library card.
The e-account opens access to the library’s electronic resources – e-books, audio books, magazines, and databases – all of which can be used while the library is closed. Those with an existing library card don’t need an e-account, as they can use their regular library card even if there is a bill on their card. The library’s electronic resources can be found on the library’s home page, www.humlib.org.
Requesting an e-account is easy. Apply for an e-account online by clicking the ‘Connect with a Librarian or Get an e-Account’ button at the top of the library home page or by calling 707-269-1915. Library staff are working Tuesdays through Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and will set up the new e-accounts and send the account numbers by return email or over the phone. You only need to provide your name, zip code, and email address. Take a moment and apply for your new e-account today!
For those without online access at home, Wi-Fi is available outside of all library locations between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Please observe social distancing guidelines while using library Wi-Fi. To protect the health of the community, all locations of the Humboldt County Library are closed to the public until further notice. Library book-drops have been locked as a safety precaution – please hold on to library books and other materials for now, as the library is not charging late fees during the Covid-19 emergency.
