Office of the District Attorney - Maggie Fleming, District Attorney
January 24, 2019
Today a jury found 34-year-old Mario Alexander of Eureka guilty of 10 counts of child molestation. The crimes occurred in 2016 and involved two minor children then 8 and 9 years old. Greg Musson of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney Senior Investigator Steve Dunn investigated the case. Dori Larson, a Child Interview Specialist with the Humboldt County Child Abuse Services Team, conducted the interviews of the children. The prosecution team included Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads, Steve Dunn, and District Attorney Victim Witness Advocate Caitlyn Lahaie.
The District Attorney’s Office thanks the children and their families for their bravery, patience and willingness to proceed, and appreciates the essential and particularly challenging efforts of the jurors who were willing and able to participate in this case.
Alexander is scheduled to be sentenced on February 28th at 8:30 a.m. by Judge Christopher Wilson. He faces a maximum of life in prison.
