5:30 PM, Garberville Library Page Turners, 'The Personal Librarian' (In Person)

Thursday, September 21, 2023

The Page Turners are reading 'The Personal Librarian' by Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray. Have you read it? Join us tonight in person or chime in next week on the KMUD Radio book club. This fascinating historical novel tells the story of Belle da Costa Greene, a Black American woman in the early 1900s who hid her identity to become the personal librarian for John Pierpont Morgan . She was the curator and collector for Morgan's famous manuscript and art collection and became well known for her impeccable taste and shrewd negotiation in the art world.

Garberville Library Page Turners

A lively group of adults talk about books.

Third Thursday of Each Month, 5:30 PM

These library in-person book group meetings are not aired on the radio or online. However, the KMUD Radio Book Club discusses the same book about a week later on their show, 7:00 until 8:00 p.m. the last Thursday of each month. Hosted by 'Friends of the Garberville Library' President Leann Greene, and Garberville Librarian Joanne Wilson, this call-in talk show goes from 7:00 until 8:00 p.m. and usually includes a lively discussion of the book-pick of the month along with comments by listeners.

This show can be heard on the radio at

  • KMUD 91.1 FM in the southern Humboldt area,
  • KMUE 88.1 FM in the Eureka area
  • or hear it on the web at kmud.org

Listeners who have read the book are invited to call in to comment at  (707) 923-3911.
