October 22, 2022
The library opens one hour early for this special event! The Book Sale & Author Autographs are from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. At about 1:30 PM, the RAFFLE to win books by the visiting authors takes place. If you don't have time to spend the whole morning here on Saturday, or want to keep out of the crowd, you can choose and buy books ahead of time at Eureka Books, where you will find books by all the authors at the Author Festival. Then come to the library on October 22 just to meet the authors and ask for an autograph. Autographed books make special gifts, so it pays to think ahead to the holidays!

Saturday, October 22, 2022
Today, meet all the authors and see their books at a public autographing session and book sale here in the Eureka Main Library. The Humboldt County Children's Author Festival brings well-known, published authors to Humboldt County, where they visit schools to talk with students about books and the business and craft of writing, and promote the exciting idea that people create books and that children can write as well as read. This year, 24 authors and illustrators have arrived from throughout the country to visit Humboldt County. They will visit about 55 Humboldt County schools to talk about themselves and their work to thousands of school children.

What else happens at the Author Festival?
For two days starting October 20, 24 authors and illustrators from all over the USA visit 60 local schools to share their expertise and enthusiasm for reading, writing and illustrating. This classroom event is just for the students and teachers.
Anyone can visit the Morris Graves Museum of Art to see original art works by the illustrators through October 30.
Meeting real people who make books happen is a wonderful experience for kids and teachers here in Humboldt, and it's fun for the visiting authors and illustrators as well!
