This StoryWalk is in place for 5 days, from May 9 to May 14. as a part of First 5 Humboldt's event, Counting on Community. Story boards are about 10 feet apart, so it's a short walk. First Five Humboldt offers fun, free events that families can do that are fun, help young children learn, and make good shared memories. They are working on the HOPE model (Healthy Outcomes from Positive Experiences),

The Annie and Mary Rail Trail passes through the City of Blue Lake following the route of the Arcata and Mad River Railroad. Stop by for an easy stroll (it's also wheelchair, bicycle and stroller friendly). Read the children's picture book Senorita Mariposa (Miss Butterfly) while you go! 17 signboards along the route feature the colorful pages of this picture book that tells the story of the beauty and power of the monarch butterfly as you walk along. You can read it in English or Spanish, or both.

Get the book, Senorita Mariposa, free! Families that participate in this StoryWalk can stop at the Blue Lake Library on Wednesday or Saturday from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM to get a free copy, or at the Blue Lake Family Resource Center Tuesday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, while supplies of the book last.
