Need Internet but Can't Afford It? You might qualify for the Emergency Broadband Benefit. This can assist you with up to $50.00 a month to help pay for internet service, and up to $100 to help pay for a laptop or tablet. As of May 2021 this temporary benefit has been available to low-income households that qualify. Starting in early 2022, the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program will be replaced by the Affordable Connectivity Program—a long-term benefit that will help households pay for internet service. Families and individuals struggling to afford internet service can receive up to $30 off their monthly internet bill by signing up for the federal government’s Affordable Connectivity Program. Households enrolled in the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program as of Dec. 31, 2021, will continue to receive their monthly benefit during a 60-day transition period.
